I'm Lina Chu
I’m a Vietnamese-Ukrainian photographer, storyteller, and adventure-seeker based in St. John’s, Canada.
I specialize in capturing real, impactful moments for brands, tourism boards, and individuals who want to authentically showcase their values and unique vibe — helping them connect with their audience and reach their goals.
My journey with photography started in 2016, wandering the streets of my hometown, Kyiv, Ukraine. It was how I learned to slow down, observe, and connect with the world around me.
Later, when I moved to the U.S., my camera became my constant travel companion — especially during a 6-month road trip across North America in a teardrop trailer my husband and I built by hand. That trip shaped how I see the world: through light, texture, movement, and emotion. At that time, I took photos every single day, and it changed everything.
After returning to Ukraine, I began working professionally — partnering with outdoor brands, adventure races, and tourism projects that aligned with my values. Around the same time, I joined Ukraïner, a documentary media project that tells in-depth stories about Ukraine. For the past 4 years, I’ve worked as a photographer on their expeditions, spending days on the road with rotating crews, documenting culture, history, and daily life across the country.
In 2022, I launched a conceptual NFT photo project about the war in Ukraine, donating half of the proceeds to support Ukrainian defence efforts. That project pushed me creatively and opened a new chapter in my storytelling.

Now, I call St. John’s, Newfoundland, home — a place that couldn’t be more perfect for someone like me who thrives in wild landscapes, and remote corners of the world.
I’m slowly becoming part of the outdoor and climbing communities here, building connections, and exploring this beautiful region through my lens.
When I’m not on a shoot or planning my next adventure, you’ll find me on a trail with my dog Dusty, swimming in the freezing ocean, or working my other job — as the Head Accent Specialist at a company helping Slavic speakers develop an American accent.
